J. René Walker is the Associate Broker for Compass Texas. She is an acclaimed and highly educated professional with over 20 years in realty and more than 20 years in the tech industry. Her combined experience serves as an asset to Compass as it builds the first modern real estate platform, pairing the industry’s top talent with today’s technology to make the search-and-sell experience intelligent and seamless for users.

J. René has lead a team of nearly 3800 Texas REALTORS® aiding clients with a wide range of needs, from finding luxury homes to corporate relocations. Her leadership style and track record of cultivating successful agents continually draw REALTORS® to her team.

As a leader, J. René uses her background and experience to empower her agents to go out and be successful, leaving them with more time and attention for their clients. Her team is a beautiful combination of the hunger and solutions-driven mindset of a startup organization and the sophistication of a world-class luxury brand.

Not only does she work to educate and train top industry agents on her team, but J. René also imparts her wisdom to realty enthusiasts around the country. In addition to appearing on HGTV’s hit reality show, “House Hunters,” J. René has authored “The Ultimate Real Estate Agent,” “The Listing Guide,” “Believe Vision Journal and Planner,” “2020 Resilient”, “2021 Re-Set” and “Amplify 2022”.

In addition to her dedication to her team of agents, J. René is also dedicated to her industry. She serves on the National Association of Real Estate Brokers board and as an instructor for both the National Association of REALTORS® and the Texas Association of REALTORS®. J. René is also a Past President of the Austin Association of Real Estate Brokers and the Williamson County Association of REALTORS®.

J. René has been recognized several times for her tremendous work in the industry. She has received the prestigious REALTOR® of the Year award and the “Businesswoman of the Year” award as chosen by the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. J. René has also recently earned the Texas REALTORS® Association Educator of the Year Award for significant contributions to real estate education in Texas and the Platinum Top 50 Realtor Award for outstanding achievements in sales, education, industry participation, and civic leadership. In 2022, J. René was honored to receive the Executive of the Year by PT50.

As the past leader of a team of nearly 3800 real estate agents in Texas, J. René believes in educating and training to develop her team into one of the best in the nation. As a professional who truly values education, she earned an MBA in Marketing, a BFA in Design, and a BS in Education. J. René has also obtained several real estate designations, including ABR, CLHMS, CNE, CRB, GRI, CRS, ePRO, PMN, PIC, RENE, SRES, SRS, TRLP, and TAHS. Her extensive education and training allow J. René to best serve her clients and her team with experience and expert advice. She is the Founder of Her First Place, a non profit that helps Black women purchase their first home, herfirstplace.com.

Before her success in the realty industry, J. René enjoyed a successful career as a marketing executive with tech giants IBM, Toshiba America, Dell Computers, and other companies in the tech industry. During her time with IBM, she gained experience on the global stage, excelling in international sales and marketing, and proved herself an asset in contract negotiations.

J. René has lived all over the country, having moved 15 times throughout her life. She was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before eventually settling in Round Rock, Texas. She is married to her loving husband, Phillip Walker, and the two have a son, Christian.
